Links of the Week
- I started part 1 of a 2 part series on clinical examination of superior labral tears. I have received a lot of great feedback and think everyone will be pleased with past 2 next week that will review a few more common tests and also summarize my algorithm of how and why to choose tests for your patient.
- The journal Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Review published a nice issue on the 2nd and 3rd generation cartilage repair procedures. Amazing progress, this topic really interests me.
- There was an interesting discussion on upper limb neural mobs on the Rehabedge discussion forum.
- Mike Robertson posted a link to a good article on hip symmetry on his blog. The website and article are geared to bodybuilding but the concepts are essentially the same in rehab. This is an area that we should pay more attention to in our patients with low back, hip, and knee pain.
- Sorry, call me excited, I hate to keep talking about it....but... the book of the week is The Athletes Shoulder by Wilk, Reinold, and Andrews. If you missed it I wrote a review, including my favorite chapters and a bit of "behind the scenes" of the making of the book. Amazon has is for 20% off right now too!
- Stretch Out Strap by Perform Better. I am a big fan of educating patients on how to stretch on their own at home. I have several of these around t
he clinic, recommend them for postoperative patients to use at home, and have a good amount of my athletes use them to get ready for games every day. What makes this product different? I have used other stretch bands, ropes, and similar products (on myself!) but the stretch out strap takes it one step further by having 10 loops along the length of the band to easily hold onto or loop your foot into. And they are less than $20. I know it sounds simple, but it works, and I like cheap and simple. Check them out at Perform Better.
