The Thoracolumbar Junction, Posterior Chain Exercises, and Building Your 10,000 Hours
This week’s stuff you should read includes articles from Jason Spray, Charlie Weingroff, and Ben Bruno.
How to Build Your 10,000 Hours
For those that have read Malcolm Gladwell’s book Outliers (if not you should), you’ll understand this reference to building your 10,000 hours. According to Malcolm (and a few different authors in other books like The Talent Code), to become and expert you need to devote 10,000 hours of time, or 10 years, to practice and develop your skills. In this article, strength coach Jason Spray discusses how he developed his 10,000 hours. I great role model for sure! This is a members only article for StrengthCoach.com members, but I figured if you read my website you probably subscribe to Michael Boyle’s website too! Supine Sagittal Stability and the T-L Junction
Charlie Weingroff has a nice article about the importance of the thoracolumbar junction. Charlie does a good job describing this from the perspective of development and the DNS thought process.
Work the Whole Back Side of the Body With One Move
Ben Bruno has a good video demonstration of an exercise that works both the back and the hamstrings. Food for thought for those Anatomy Trains followers that want to enhance posterior chain strength. I like combining movements like this and also a good use of the TRX straps.
